Customers Overview
This screen provides information about your customers.
The top half of the screen (known as the form), shows the details for the customer that is
selected in the table that is in the bottom half of the screen. In the middle of the screen
is a filter. By right-clicking in the table, you open a context menu
where you can do things with your customers. There is also the customer menu at the top (with all
the normal menus), where you can do more things with your customers. You can activate the customers screen using
CTRL+SHIFT+1.
Special things to note about the top half of the page:
- Apart from the Anonymous customer, all customers are editable, meaning you can update
the details of a customer by simply clicking on a field and updating the information.
- As soon as you finish typing, the information is automatically saved.
- First names can be blank, but the last name is mandatory. If you have a customer that is for
example another business, you can type its name as the last name and leave the first name blank.
- The credit limit is the amount of credit you are prepared to give this customer, without a warning.
If this customer owes you more than this value in unpaid / unconfirmed sales orders,
then you are given a warning in this screen, as well as when you create new sales orders for this
customer.
- The category - you can choose from an existing category by clicking on the down arrow to open the
combo box, or you can type a new category.
In the middle of the screen is a filter. You can type search text there and it will limit what is shown in the
table below. Click on the
icon for more information. The number in brackets, in the
header cell of the ID column of the table indicates how many rows match the given filter.
If the filter is empty, then this number is the total number of customers that you have.
If the cursor is in the filter, you can use the down arrow to move focus into the table.
The table in the bottom half of the screen has the following columns:
- ID - The customers ID number, or the unique reference number you have for them
- First Name - The customers first name
- Last Name - The customers last name
- Referer - The person who referred this customer to your business.
- Category - The category/categories that this customer is in.
- Sales - The sales volume that this customer has made with your business. That is, the total
value of stuff that they bought from you.
You can sort rows in the table by clicking on the header cell of the column you wish to sort by, for example to
sort by "total sales", click on the column header in the table. To reverse sort, click the header again.
Selecting a customer in the table shows you their details in the form.
Right clicking on the table gives you a menu:
- New... - Opens the New Customer Dialog
allowing you to enter details of a new customer.
- Remove - Removes the selected customer, but only if they are not actually used anywhere else, for
example in a sales order or event. Also see the customer menu where you can remove
all unused customers.
- Sell something to this customer... - Opens the sales wizard with this customer already selected,
so that you can add products to the shopping cart and sell them to this customer.
- Show sales orders - Activates the sales screen and sets the filter so
that only sales orders for the selected customer
are shown.
Also see the customer menu for more help.
