New Stock Wizard
This wizard helps you enter information about a new stock item.
It is opened from the
context menu in the
table of the stock screen.
This wizard is used to tell BookStore that you have an item of stock that it does not already know about.
Generally speaking, this wizard is used in cases where you purchase stock from somewhere other than a supplier,
and wish to capture that information. It is not normally used for
stock control (use the
stock take wizard instead).
The first screen (above) lets you select a product that you want to add to stock.
If the product is not listed, it is because the product is new to BookStore. Cancel the wizard,
and add the product to BookStore. Once you have selected a
product, you can click on the "next" button.
The second screen (below) lets you optionally select a
purchase order. The idea here is that if your supplier
delivers surplus stock, which you choose to keep (optionally paying additionally for it, depending upon your
relationship with your supplier), you can then link it to that purchase order for future reference.
The third screen (below) is where you enter information about the cost of this new stock. The date, price and
comment fields are mandatory. If you selected a PO in the previous screen, it will be shown on this screen as the
"Linked to PO" field. When you click on the finish button, the wizard will create the
stock item as well as an
outgoing payment for the value you specified on
the last screen. That outgoing payment will be linked to the stock item.
