Manipulate Purchase Orders Wizard
This wizard lets you manipulate your
purchase orders.
At any time, each supplier must have at least one purchase order in the "temporary" state.
The new PO dialog however,
lets you create additional temporary purchase orders.
This might be useful if you want to place one PO with the supplier now, but keep some
items back and only order them later. This might seem strange, but depending upon deals which suppliers are offering
it can be advantageous to manipulate purchase orders in this way. Once you have more than
one PO for a given supplier, you can use this wizard to do just this, by moving items from one PO to another.
This wizard is opened from the
context menu in the
table of the purchasing screen.
Depending upon how many temporary purchase orders you have for a given supplier, you get different
results by clicking on the "Manipulate" menu item:
- One temporary PO - BookStore offers to create a second temporary PO for the selected supplier
- Two temporary POs - The wizard opens allowing you to swap items from one PO to the other
- Three or more temporary POs - The wizard first asks you to choose two POs, and then
opens the page allowing you to swap items from one PO to the other
With only one temporary PO, BookStore offers to create a second one
Choosing which POs to manipulate, when you have three or more temporary POs
Once BookStore knows which POs you want to manipulate, it shows you the following screen:
Here you can move POs from one order to the other. Once you are happy with the organisation, you can
click the finish button and BookStore will assign the items to the respective POs. Each PO will contain
notes about items removed/added so that you have a history of what you did. If you want, you can then add
more notes to each PO to explain why you manipulated them in this way.
